Cinco De Mayo Week

Maracas and a Sombrero Hat.

So this week at school G is studying Cinco De Mayo...  it is going to be a stretch for me to find enough stuff to fill a week of Cinco De Mayo, but I will try.

Today

He has cheese and bread Maracas.. with the fancy smancy design using my markers :)  I made a sombreo cookie.. Fudge strip cookie with a marshmellow in it... ha...  He has ham and cheese, carrots and a strawberry.  Bad mommy forgot to get HIS yogurt (ok well the store didn't have it and I didn't feel like going to another store to get it) so he has a container of my yogurt, which I am sure I will hear about after school :)

Random Dinner

Hubby had a late LAX game tonight, so it was just G and me for dinner.. and he actually asked for a "special" dinner.. awww my heart... so I grabbed what I had on hand and came up with this..

Veggie Rice, carrots, penguin cheese and octopus hot dogs. He ate everything right up.. I think he was a happy little boy

Mary Mary Quite Contrary

Last night G had Fettuccine Alfredo for dinner and he told me that he wanted it in his lunch today.. so my brain got to thinking that it could be the garden for Mary.

So

The Garden is his leftovers (some of them) and cheddar flowers.  Mary is a traced image from a sheet he brought home from school. He has flower strawberries, more small flowers, and carrots.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

So this morning G was up extra early so I asked him what Nursery Rhyme he would like today.. he went back and forth between Mary Mary Quite Contrary and Twinkle Twinkle.... I was rooting for Twinkle Twinkle, because I figured that would be much easier.. so I was so relieved happy when he said Twinkle. So today he has

Bread Star with two cheddar cheese stars on top (told you it was an easy one). He asked for ham today so he has that with the left over cheese, apple slices and carrots. He also asked for a cookie, so he has that with a star traced into it. Hope he likes it.

I loved it so.. here is my version.

Jack and Jill are bread cut into circles, with cheddar cheese hair and swiss cheese faces.  The bucket between them is cheddar and swiss also.  in the cups above he has apples and carrots, and turkey and the cheese scrapes.  The Jack and Jill sign is a cookie.  We said the Nursery Rhyme to school today, so I hope he gets it.

Nursery Rhyme Week - Humpty Dumpty

G's Theme at school this week is Nursery Rhymes, so today I started the Week off with Humpty Dumpty.

Humpty is Swiss Cheese with my egg shape cutter.  he is sitting on a bread and cheddar wall.  In the cups today G has, strawberries, carrots, turkey and cheese, and gummies.  His has been asking for his yogurt to be in his box, ever since I started it last week to make it easier... so it's there too.  He has a special surprise today.. Humpty was kind of falling off the wall (and for this box I wanted him on the wall) I had to prop him up with a cookie.. ha...I am sure I could of come up with something else more healthy, but it fit perfect!

Coconut Oil + Giveaway

Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil + Giveaway

I am excited to be able to offer my readers a chance to win a one quart of Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions.

Coconut oil has many different uses, and many people believe it can enhances the immune system.
I have started to cook  with coconut oil, and have so far tried a coconut chicken and just using it as oil instead of using “regular” oil.. the coconut flavor isn’t as strong as you might think. Coconut oil is solid at room temperature, but it melts right away in a hot pan and is easy to use.

I also like using it on my elbows (they tend to be really dry all the time) a tiny bit goes a long way and they are so much softer after I use it. You can check out Tropical Traditions How To Use Coconut Oil webpage for more ideas

Check out these videos from Tropical Traditions…

So Tropical Traditions has given me  the opportunity to share their coconut oil with you. What do you have to do… well

1)subscribe to Tropical Traditons Sales Newsletter here: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/subscribe_for_special_sales.cfm
     2)      Leave me a comment below telling me why you want to try coconut oil.
Good Luck!  This contest ends on April 16th

First Day Back

Well it was back to the grind this morning... G just kept saying he didn't want to go to school, so I let him pick a book and his favorite part of the book to make his lunch.

He picked Car Wash by Sandra Steen and Susan Steen Illustrated by G. Brian Karas
In this book a family goes to the carwash.. the illustrations are G's favorite thing in the book. So he picked when the car starts to go in and it gets dark..

We all know that my artist talents are not the best, but I thought I did ok....

The scene is on a piece of Bread, painted with my natural food color powders, the sign for Car Wash is on a piece of cheese...  He has carrots, strawberries, and "bubble" cheese and ham pieces.

Hope he likes it.

Spring Break :)

Well we are on Spring Break, so no school lunches... but yesterday I just couldn't help myself... We had "special" breakfast and lunch.

Breakfast

Bunny Bums :)  Mini pancakes with bacon ears and marshmallow tails... I think G like the tails the best.

Lunch... we spent most of the morning outside, G kind of playing and helping me fix up the follow beds and the garden.  So for lunch he had to have a garden...

A Bean (seed) open sandwich of bread turkey and cheese...  cheese ball seeds,  flower strawberries and Garden veggie rice as the garden bed itself.

I think he liked it...
