The Enormous Crocodile - Roald Dahl Blog Hop

It's Roald Dahl's Day (ok well tomorrow). BUT....Today I get to be part of a great blog hop to celebrate it. I love being in the blog hops to see what everyone comes up with. Can't wait to see them all.

I do remember reading Roald Dahl's  books as a child and the wonder of them making me smile and wanting to travel to the worlds I was reading about.  James and the Giant Peach was my absolute favorite, I kind of remember when they made the movie, being disappointed because it wasn't what I had imagined. I like that about books we can all read the same thing and all have slightly different ideas about what it "looks" like.  I can't wait till G wants and is able to read them by himself so he can share in my love.  I have read him a couple of stories and his favorite is The Enormous Crocodile.

For G's lunch today he gave me the task of coming up with the Enormous Crocodile.  I know I am not the best artist, but he seems to like what I can do, so I am giving it a shot.  Here is what I came up with. One of G's favorite parts is when the enormous crocodile pretends he is a tree, and then Humpy-Rumpy Hippopotamus rams into him.

The Enormous crocodile is made from a dinosaur cookie cutter that I kind of flattened to look more like the croc, its made from bread.  The leaves are cheddar cheese, and the coconuts are slices from a cheese stick.  Turkey is the ground.  On the side of my Easy Lunch box, I have more cheese stick and strawberries.  Carrots and celery with a bread (heel) Hippo (yes I think it a elephant, but G wont mind).

I hope he likes it!  It is also story book day at school today and I did try to get him to dress up like the Enormous Crocodile, but he said no.... He decided to be Pigeon from Mo Willems, too cute... but that is a whole other blog entry... ha... back on task.
