Yesterday I packed my kiddos ( 11 and 4) up in the car and headed out to Hanover, MD.. for a real treat. Medival Times. My sister was awesome enough to meet us there! I have always wanted to go, but was worried my youngest wouldn't be entertained. Thanks to US Family Guide and Medieval Times they helped me take them.
Overall we had so much fun. The kids faces were priceless, and I would take them again as they really liked it. but as this is my review I will go over the pros and cons.
PROS
Super easy to get tickets online, and they do accomodate allergies and special diets.. My sister is a vegitarian and they had a meal for her!
Very entertaining.. the show kept moving and changing so it was easy for my 4 year old to not get bored. Loved the real sparks from the sword fights and the compitition we had to have our Knight win (our did not).
Food - as I said I like how they could accomodate my sister, she got a apitizer of hummus and veggies and pita bread and then a rice and potaoe "stew". The regular meal was pretty tasty. Started with a tomato soup and bread. My 11 year old has never had tomato soup, and he tried it (WIN) and even liked it.. he really liked dipping his bread into the soup! The chicken was well seasoned and very moist.. and you get a ton! Each person gets a half of a roasted potato, that was yummy too. You also get corn on th cob.. that was my 4 year olds favorite. Dessert was soft ice cream with a butterscotch sauce.
We did opt to get the the Vip seating upgrade which meant we got priotirty seating, closer seating and we each got a banner. It was nice..but I am not sure it is nessesary ..
It was helpful to get in before eveyone... felt like we didn't have to line up, but next time I would check in and get my table number and then maybe walk the mall... see below...
ok here are my cons....
They suggest you get there early they open the "gates" 75 min early.. not this does not let you into the arena to get your seats.. this just opens up to the "shopping" area... where there is nothing to do.. but spend money.. and let me tell you.. bring lots...
They have lots of souveniers to choose from which is nice.. and you can purchase fun kids drinks and even adult beverages... we chose to not do either...
I wish that they had more "tables" to sit down at and maybe even at the table have some table games.. like chess and checker.
becasue we did get the vip seats we didn't have to wait in line.. but the lines did get to be long to wait for enterance into the areana... we went in around 3 and were not let into the arean until maybe 3:55. The show did end up starting around 4:10
Kids review
11 year old - My favorite part was probally the games, when they swung the swords and the sparks came off. My least favoirite part was the ice cream and the knight not winning.
4 year old - I liked when the knight swung the stick with the spike balls around.
I didn't like when my knight didn't win.
