Little Red Riding Hood

I really tried to get out of making this lunch today, I didn't sleep well and was tired when I got up.  Last years Little Red was such a disaster that I was scared to even try again.  Well I think it was a tad bit better this year

Little Red is made from a Mini Babybel cheese and ham.  The wolf is bread with cheese accents.
He has pretzel sticks, carrots, grapes cookies and a cheese stick (not sure how he would like the babybel)

The Little Engine that Could

G's class read the Little Engine that could yesterday (to help us learn not to give up - G's Teacher).

I find it perfect for him to be reading this in class becuase hubby and i have been trying to encourage him to not say I can't but to try...  we had a great discussion on the way home about it and he told me he is going to say he thinks he can from now on.  To help encourage this his I made this lunch (which on the way to school he asked me if it was a little engine that could lunch, boy am I lucky)

Cheese train with bread I Can (didn't think that the work think would fit) Ham, extra bread, carrots, grapes and gummies.

Humpty Dumpty

I know I have made a Humpty Dumpty lunch for a couple of years, but I think they have all been different.  G's class read the story Humpty Dumpty yesterday, his teacher says they read it to help the class learn to cooperate and work together... since this is G's second time with her, I found it really neat that he is doing such a better job at cooperating and working together this year.  The past two years she has had the kids make a cute  Humpty Dumpty craft, so he came home with it last night.  I was so in awe of the difference from last year to this year.  I don't think I realized how immature he was at the start of the year last year.  Check out the difference

2012-----------------------2013
I just can't get over it... I am so proud to see how much he has grown.

Anyway onto the lunch...

I had to try to do something different than last year...

The wall is  a cheese stick with cheeze it bricks.  Humpty is bread with funny eyes, under him is a stack of pepperoni to make him the same height as the wall.
Grapes, homegrown carrots and gummies complete the meal.

Row Row Row your Boat

Yesterday (Thursday) G learned how to sign the song Row Row Row your Boat. So I figured I would make him a lunch to go along with it.

The stream (turned a little green) is rice, a bread boat, Row in cheese, turkey and goldfish, carrots and strawberries. I think I hid some gummies under that.

We also had to provide snack today.  So here is what we did.

Cheese stick pencil, with marshmallow eraser and bugle point.  The eraser is a small box of raisin with a wrapper I made.

I think it was a big hit

There is a bird on your head

This summer Garrett fell into the Mo Willems books with Piggy and Gerald, and yesterday at school his teacher read There is a Bird on Your Head.  He was so excited I had to attempt to make it today.

Piggy and Gerald are turkey sandwiches, with grapes, carrots and gummies.. oh the bird on Gerald's head is cheese\.

Chrysanthemum

Garrett was telling me about a book he read a school last week, but he couldn't remember the title. but then on Sunday night he remembered.  It was Chrysanthemum, I always loved that story so I made a very "loose" interpretation of the story.

Cheese mouse (ok it looks like a cat) with a bread flower... and the usual

Western Day at School

You are my sunshine

I have gotten into a routine of "singing"( I say that very loosely as I do not claim to be a singer) You Are My Sunshine to G in the mornings when he wakes up... so I thought what a better way to remind him how much I love him to make him a sunshine :)

Sunshine out of the usual (pretty boring I know, but at least he eats) Bread, swiss and cheddar cheese.  He has pepperoni to change it up along with apples, carrots and a cookie.  He has a go gurt in his box too.

Roasting Marshmallows

We had so much fun this weekend staying at the beach late and roasting marshmallows over a fire, that I figured I would keep it going this for his lunch.

The campfire is bread and two kinds of cheese (cheddar and provalone) with pretzel sticks as the "wood", then we have a marshmallow (the small ones would of been better, but they were all stuck together this morning) with a "stick"
On the side is the regular, strawberries, carrots and turkey.

Here is my buddy roasting marshmallows.
