Dinosaurs

Today when I asked G what he wanted in his lunch, he said let me go get a book.. love this kid...

So after both of us hunting for this dinosaur book If Dinosaurs Came to Town He told me he wanted the T-rex and the people... Here is what I came up with

-

T-rex is a cookie cutter on bread, painted with my natural food dye.  The people (with scared faces) are Swiss cheese... he has a car egg made with my mold... Daddy made G try a sweet pepper last night he said he liked the orange one, so he asked for one today (not cut up).  Grapes, and a piece of ham.  He has a Gogurt and juice box too.

Goldfish Bread

My DH went to the grocery store for me this weekend, it is always so nice when he does that even if he brings home extra stuff.  This time he brought home the goldfish bread, kind of thoughtful when he thought it would make my making fun lunches easier.. but now i have to come up with all kinds of fishy lunches.. ha...

So...

Monday (sorry I didn't get a post up, totally busy day.... swamped at work, the end of the school year rush.. etc...)

Lunch goes with the story Swim! Swim!

Goldfish bread (empty, cuz thats how g wanted it) with cheese eyes and a hat.  The rest --- cheese, turkey, grapes, star cucumbers, yogurt.

Today

Story
The Pout-Pout Fish in the Big-Big Dark

Goldfish bread - still empty, cheese eyes, and circle decorations...  The rest ---- cheese, turkey, grapes, cucumbers, a cookie and yogurt.

Happy Feet

Last night I had to go to a meeting that was held at the Baltimore Aquarium :)  It was hosted by  Discovery Education. It was a nice time, but did make me a little sad to be away from my guys for the evening.

Discovery had a little gift for us.. this little guy

So this morning when G woke up he was sitting on the table for him.  He was very excited, so when I asked him what he wanted for lunch he held him up....

He has two Swiss and cheddar cheese penguins on a circle of bread.  The left over cheese and some roast beef.  Carrots, grapes, yogurt and a cookie.

Around One Cactus

G's Yaya sent him a book about a cactus since she lives in Arizona, well he has become pretty into it.  The book is called Around One Cactus.

So his lunches for the past to days have been based on animals from this book.

Tuesday

The Gila Monster.  Rocks - crackers and bread, Gila Monster Cheese (was a dinosaur cutter, that I took the horns off of) with my natural dye colored on to resemble the Gila Monster.  He has the usual on the side, carrots, grapes, yogurt, turkey and a cookie hiding somewhere.

Today

The Rattlesnake

The desert is rice with veggies to represent the cactus.. (I know a tad stretch, but after my sad cactus during cinco de mayo I wasn't trying again)  The snake is cheese wound up colored to represent the snake.  He has pepperoni, the left over cheese, carrots, strawberries, crackers and a cookie.  he also has a yogurt, its just not pictured.

Alaska's Three Pigs

I didn't get a sheet with G's school theme for this week, so I asked him what he wanted last night... He brought me a book .  Alaska's Three Pigs.. His Nana and Papa brought it back for him from Alaska even before we knew he was coming :).  It's a version of the Three Pigs, but in Alaska and instead of the wolf, its a grizzly bear..

So he has a bear, (I am sure he will wish it was scarier) from bread, cheese eyes and mouth, cheese pigs, sun chips, left over cheese and pepperoni, yogurt carrots and grapes.. I think I hid a cookie under on of the cups too.

Beetle and Bee

Today is the last day of Insect lunches :(... G is having a picnic lunch provided by school tomorrow..

He has a bee and a beetle (bread with cheese, I cut out the holes with a straw), I haven't been sleeping well so today lunch isn't as creative as I was hoping for, but sleeping in a bit won out...

He has turkey and cheese, strawberries and grapes, carrots, his yogurt and a cookie

Spider - Sandwich Ball

So I saw these sandwich balls on Cute Food For Kids and thought I could make a cute body for a spider today.

The sandwich ball has cheese inside  of it and was really easy to make.. it is sitting on a cookie cutter spider (bread too)  I know it doesn't have the correct number of legs, but G didn't seem to mind.  He picked out pepperoni today and cheese and asked me to not make any shapes with it (heart break) He also has carrots, oranges and grapes, a yogurt and a cookie.

Life Cycle of the Butterfly

I picked up these cool insect cookie cutters and thought, well I could just use one a day, but I like to be more creative than that... so.....

I came up with the butterfly life cycle....  it is just sitting on a piece of bread (nothing fancy today).. the egg and crysalis are white cheddar cheese.. the butterfly and caterpiller are cheddar cheese..
we have a carrot and broccoli (G picked this out at the store last night),  turkey and left over cheese, grapes and apples and his favorite.. yogurt..  there is also a chocolate chip cookie hidden under the grapes....

Insect Week - Dragonfly

This week is bug week.. G is really into bugs lately, so its perfect for him.  He also has his mini field day on friday so only 4 lunches needed this week.

Today I picked a Dragonfly, for 2 reasons.. 1) we just saw one in our garden yesterday and 2) G's Yaya just sent him (me) a cool dragon fly cookie cutter.

So he has a bread and cheese Dragonfly on a bed of lettuce (which I am sure G will not like, but I keep trying, plus it looks pretty) a chicken nugget in the white cup, apples, yogurt, celery and the cheese scraps.

Flying Trapeze

Last day of the Circus.. looks like insects are next weeks theme.. woo hoo....

Today G has a flying trapeze guy  I used my natural food dyes for it... his trapeze is a marshmallow twist cut up.. He has a Star pizza, strawberries, celery and his favorite yogurt

Teacher Appreciation Gifts

With this week being Teacher Appreciation  I wanted G to make sure he knows that you have to thank your teachers (yes even if you are only  3).  So he and I put together some simple gifts, now being a teacher I feel like I know what teacher don't want... and kind of when against that, but I thought this was cute anyway

We picked up these great little travel coffee mugs from the dollar store (SCORE) and filled them with a single serve filter + coffee all in one packet and 4 creamers in yummy flavors, like french vanilla, peppermint Patti and my favorite Carmel Macciato... yum...
Covered the top with cute tags that read.. Thanks a Latte for all you do.. (thanks pinterest)

With the school year coming close to an end and I usually do a bigger gift for his teacher then, I think this small gift will at least let them know we appreciate them

My Favorite Circus Animal

When G and I have gone to the circus (ok 3 times) we love to see the elephants.  My favorite this is to see them trunk to tail.. I love the way the little baby elephants grab the tail of the elephant in front of them.. heart melt....

Today lunch represents my favorite part...  elephants are made from cheddar cheese on top of whole wheat bread.  He has pepperoni, strawberries and carrots (yes faces again) a cookie and his yogurt.

Here comes the Clown :)

Today's lunch is a character that not all people love :)  G's auntie is very afraid of them.. I just think that they are funny.. but can see how they freak people out...

The clown is made from bread (cut with a glass into a round)  cheddar cheese hair (using flower cutter) White cheddar eyes, an M&M nose and pepperoni mouth.

He has the left over cheese and more pepperoni, carrots with faces (requested) strawberry and a fudge strip cookie.  G is very glad he has his yogurt this week.

sad cactus

This week is really tough for me... yikes.... I tried to make a cactus, and well G asked what it was... not a good sign.. oh well...

Circle bread with a cheese cactus (colored in green) I brought back the sombrero hat (fudge stripe cookie with a marshmallow in the middle), because he like it and asked.  He has a cup of mandarin oranges, cheese and bacon, sun chips and fiesta carrots (don't they look like they are going to a party :) )

A Little Bit of Mexico

I am really stretching myself this week....  5 lunches with a Cinco de Mayo theme is hard... and today I woke up late so it had to be something fast...

I figured I would do the flag (or a representation of it) since that seemed easy enough. Flag is bread colored with my markers, and a circle of cheese for the emblem in middle...  Then I asked G what meat he would like in his lunch and he told me hot dog... hmm.... light bulb.. I will turn it into a cactus...(well that's what I tried to do, if you use your imagination you can see it)

The cups are all done in the flag colors :) starting across top so he has carrots (in the green cup), apples (white cup), Mexican jumping beans ok jelly beans (in red), the cactus is also in red, Chips (in white) and cheese circles (in green)

now looking at this picture I think I see a cookie too.. I must of been rushing and didn't realize he was getting a cookie and jelly beans.. well double treat for him today

Still haven't gotten his yogurt and this morning he told me mine wasn't good enough.. guess we are stopping by store on way home.

Fiesta

So Today's lunch stretches my artist ability once again.... G came home with this cute little guy coloring book yesterday.. a little fiesta guy holding maracas and wearing traditional clothing.  So I thought sure I can recreate that.... welll.... you be the judge.. can you see him?

So I traced the little guy onto bread, I think I should of colored in his maracas, oh well...  In the little cup is some yogurt (mine again, didn't make it to a store last night, bad mommy) under that is a cookie.  In the cups he has cheese (cheddar) and turkey, carrots and a strawberry.

Printique - awesome

I had the opportunity to try a new Photo printing site. Printique.  They are part of the Adorama Pix family which I love..  It was super ea...
